Professor Ashanti Dawson is an expert in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. He gained his start in 1995 as an engineer at Nortel Networks. Founded in the 1800s by Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, Nortel was one of the innovators behind the creation of the Internet. At Nortel, Professor Dawson was inducted into the Honor Circle for exceeding sales quota for seven consecutive years. In 2011, he transitioned from industry to teaching, first with the NYC Department of Education, then within colleges in the New York City area. He taught Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Computer Science, and Critical Thinking, providing students with an industry complement to theory. He recruited low income students for Calculus, and collaborated with school leadership to design a new college preparatory math course for high school juniors and seniors. He also coached football, basketball, and baseball teams. A scholar-athlete himself, Professor Dawson holds an electrical engineering degree from Cornell, and a computer science degree from NYU.

Since 2014, Professor Dawson has been dedicated to his role as an educator at The College of Westchester. His teaching expertise spans the fields of business, computer science, and mathematics, and he has been instrumental in shaping the academic journeys of countless students at the institution. Over the years, Professor Dawson’s commitment to fostering knowledge and learning has left a lasting impact on the CW's educational community.
